Articles for Successful Living
In 1953, Sir Edmund Hillary found millions of clams and shells on Mt. Everest, 26,000 feet above sea level. Apart from the Biblical account of The Flood in Noah’s day, ancient histories from all different cultures worldwide record events of a great catastrophic flood that covered the earth. In Genesis 8:11, God promised, “Never again will all life be cut off by the waters of a flood to destroy the earth.” He then gives us the glorious rainbow as a covenant to seal the deal forever. But God did not promise there would never be another flood covering the earth, He just said it wouldn’t destroy the earth again.
The flood in Noah’s day covered the earth for 150 days– 5 full months. The question begs why 150? Did it take that long to cleanse the land? In the spring of 2012, God spoke to Apostle Sharon Colisino and Melissa Flores to call all Christians to set aside 150 days in order to pray for our nation, starting June 10, 2012. Why 150?
Upon investigation it was discovered that day 100 of this 5 month prayer vigil landed on Rosh Hashanah. Day 150 lands on Nov. 6, 2012, Election Day. No coincidence. God is giving us a door of opportunity to pray for our nation. Our prayer is that the Lord will cleanse, heal, and restore the land, starting with us, the Church. Our prayer is for the Lord to send a Great Flood of revival to this nation. Habakkuk 2:14 (NIV) says, “For the earth will be filled with the knowledge of the glory of the Lord, as the waters cover the sea.” Cover us with Your Grace and Glory, Lord!
Jesus said in Matthew 24:37, “When the Son of Man returns, it will be like it was in Noah’s day. In those days before the Flood, the people were enjoying banquets and parties and weddings right up to the time Noah entered his boat. People didn’t realize what was going to happen until the Flood came and swept them all away. That is the way it will be when the Son of Man comes.” Many of us as Christians have seen the sins and flaws of our culture and point to God’s impending judgment. But there is a gap, a door, a period of time, in which we are now in, that God is saying, “Who will stand with Me?”
In Genesis 18:20, God heard an outcry against Sodom and Gomorrah and went down to see for Himself. He was accompanied by two angels, who were to carry out His judgment. But a curious thing happened first. The Lord hung back and conversed with Abraham, His servant, “for a while”. A door of opportunity was allowed in order for Abraham to intercede for these cities. Instead of going down with the angels to pronounce judgment, the Bible says that, “Abraham remained standing before the Lord.”
This is our position today. We must remain standing with the Lord for our nation. “The Lord isn’t really being slow about His promise to return, as some people think. No, He is being patient for your sake. He does not want anyone to perish, so He is giving more time for everyone to repent.”(2 Peter 3:9).
Christ is our Ark of Safety. He is our Door of Opportunity. The “door of the ark” is being held open now. We have a part, as Abraham did, in keeping this door open for as many people who will, to receive Christ as Saviour. He is our only Hope of being saved from eternal Hell.
The Flood in Noah’s day was more than just a lot of rain. The ark was much more than a cute little boat with happy animals peering out as seen on our nursery walls. Ken Hamm so aptly puts it this way: “Scripture says that the fountains of the great deep broke open. In other words, earthquakes, volcanoes, and geysers of molten lava and scaling water were squeezed out of the earth’s crust in a violent, explosive upheaval. These fountains were not stopped until 150 days into the Flood so the earth was literally churning underneath the waters for about 5 months.”
150 Days of Prayer
What can 150 days of prayer do in our nation? True faith goes over our heads. It covers the mountains of our culture like the Flood and enters into the Rainbow Realm of God’s glory. When the Lord returns will He find faith in the earth? True faith banks on His promises:
We may think our prayers are only a drop in the bucket, but all of our prayers, together, will create a restorative flood in the earth of epic proportions. Imagine, a flood of petitions for revival in our nation reaching the Throne Room of Heaven. Our prayers are precious to Him. He even saves every tear we shed in a bottle. “The smoke of the incense, mixed with the prayers of the saints, ascended up to God from the altar where the angel had poured them out. Then the angel filled the incense burner with fire from the altar and threw it down upon the earth; and thunder crashed, lightning flashed, and there was a terrible earthquake.” (Revelation 8:4 & 5)
A Great Flood of God’s glory is coming to restore the earth—will we all pray for it to come our way in these next 150 days?
Ephesians 1:18: “I pray that your hearts will be flooded with light so that you can understand the wonderful future He has promised to those He called…”
